Greg Johnson, President & CEO, and Director

Mr. Johnson was appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of South American Silver Corp. April 2010 and has been a director since 2009. As an exploration geologist with more than 25 years of experience in the mining industry, Mr. Johnson brings broad corporate finance, project development and exploration experience to the Company. He most recently served at NovaGold Resources as Vice-President, Strategic Development, where during his 12 years there was part of the team that grew NovaGold from a $50-million market capitalization to more than a $2-billion company. While at NovaGold, Mr. Johnson was prominently involved with the acquisition and advancement of three world-class deposits, including the completion of three feasibility studies. He was a co-winner of the respected Thayler Lindsay International Discovery Award for his role in the discovery and advancement of the 40-million-ounce Donlin Creek gold deposit in Alaska. Mr. Johnson began his career with Barrick Gold (Placer Dome) where he worked in the U.S. and International Exploration Groups with responsibilities for several projects from early discovery stage to development and operations. He graduated with Honours from Western Washington University where he earned a B Sc. in Geology.

Phillip Brodie-Hall, Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Brodie-Hall is a professional engineer who brings over 35 years of engineering construction and project development experience to the Company from a career that has covered nearly every aspect of evaluation, feasibility studies and project development in the mining and mineral processing industries. He has had first-hand experience with projects in Australia, Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle-East, Eurasia, and North and South America.

William Filtness, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Filtness is a Chartered Accountant who has been involved in the mining industry for over 25 years as a director or officer of a number of public companies. Mr. Filtness has been CFO of South American Silver since the company’s IPO in 2007. 

 

James Mallory, Vice President of Operations and Social Responsibility

Mr. Mallory brings over 33 years of mining industry experience in large-scale mine management, operations and construction in North and South America. Most recently, Mr. Mallory was Vice President at Silver Standard Resources working with its start-up Pirquitas silver mine in Argentina, as well as at its advanced development projects in Peru and Mexico. Prior to that Mr. Mallory held management positions in operations and sustainable development with Barrick Gold (Placer Dome), Silver Standard and NovaGold.

Felipe Malbran, Vice President of Exploration

Mr. Malbran brings over 25 years of exploration industry experience and has served as Vice President of Exploration for South American Silver since its IPO in 2007. Mr Malbran was involved in a number of major mineral discoveries including Malku Khota, Escalones and Vizcachitas. His career has included exploration for precious and base metal deposits throughout Latin America with groups including Teck Cominco, General Minerals and Geoestudios Consultants. Mr. Malbran received his Degree in Geology from the University of Chile in 1983 and is a qualified person for the Company.

David Dreisinger, Vice President of Metallurgy

Dr. Dreisinger has been working as a metallurgical consultant with the Company since May, 2006. In addition, he currently holds the position of Professor and Chairholder of the Industrial Research Chair in Hydrometallurgy at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Dreisinger, with co-workers, has been actively involved in developing and commercializing hydrometallurgical technology such as the Mt. Gordon and Sepon copper processes in Australia and Laos. Through the Industrial Research Chair in Hydrometallurgy, Dr. Dreisinger is engaged in research and in the teaching technical short courses to the global metallurgical industry. David is a director of PolyMet Mining Corp. and International Nickel Ventures Corporation.

Andrew Clark, Manager of Project Implementation

Mr. Clark has over 30 years of experience in the design and management of industrial, mining, materials handling, chemical and petrochemical projects. These projects have ranged from feasibility studies through to commissioning and handover of completed facilities. He has held a number of senior management roles during his career and has extensive international experience as a project manager, having worked on projects in Africa, Australia, the Middle East, Eurasia, and North and South America.

Richard Doran, Vice President and Corporate Secretary

Mr. Doran brings extensive industry experience to the Company. He has been associated with South American Silver since its IPO in 2007. Prior to South American Silver Mr. Doran was part of the General Minerals management team, served as the North American marketing Manager for the European-based metals company Union Miniere, and as commercial manager for Chevron Minerals. Mr. Doran holds a Professional Engineering Degree in metallurgical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an M.S. Degree in Mineral Economics from the Pennsylvania State University. He completed additional graduate studies in international economics at the University of Denver.

Xavier Gonzales Yutronic, General Manager-Compañía Minera Malku Khota S.A.

Mr. Gonzales has over 20 years industry experience in the mining industry covering finance, logistics, and community relations at Comsur S.A., one of the largest mining companies in Bolivia, Glencore (Sinchi Wayra), and Compañía Minera Malku Khota S.A. Mr. Gonzales has been part of the successful development of many projects and mining operations at Oruro, Potosi and Santa Cruz and holds a Degree in Business Administration from the Catholic University of La Paz, Bolivia.
