BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Ralph Fitch, Executive Chairman & Director
Mr. Fitch is an exploration geologist with over 40 years of international exploration management and field experience. He is one of the co-founders of South American Silver Corp. Prior to South American Silver he was a co-founder of General Minerals and held positions included Chief Geologist and Manager of U.S. Exploration for the Chevron Minerals Group. His extensive exploration experience includes work in South America, Australia, West Africa, South Africa and the United States. Mr. Fitch is credited with a number of major international discoveries and was awarded the Chevron Chairman's Award for his part in the discovery of the Ujina deposit at the Collahuasi copper porphyry project in Chile. Earlier in his career he was involved in the discovery at the Bend and Horseshoe deposits in Wisconsin, the Henkries uranium deposit in South Africa, the Coppins Gap copper deposit in West Australia, and the Pah-My-Yah diamond field in Liberia.
Antonio Canton, Director
Mr. Canton is an independent consultant for international companies in marketing, finance and real estate. As a director of a number of Swiss companies, he brings to the Board extensive experience in accounting and finance.
Paul Haber, Director
Mr. Paul Haber is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant with a strong background in US/Canadian accounting and finance. He is presently managing the private company Haber & Co. Ltd. Prior to March of 2007, he was Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of a TSX Venture Exchange listed company. He is also the Chairman of the Audit Committee for South American Silver Corp.
Peter Harris, Director
Mr. Harris is a mining engineer with over 40 years of industry experience in development, construction, and operation of large scale mines. His experience includes his role as Senior VP and Chief Operating Officer at Nova Gold Resources Inc., and Senior VP of Project Development at Barrick Gold (Placer Dome). He has been involved in the construction and operation of over 20 different mines in North and South America, Africa, Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Greg Johnson, President and CEO, Director
Mr. Johnson has over 25 years of international mining industry experience in corporate finance, project development and exploration. He has been a director of South American Silver since 2009 and President and CEO since 2010. As a co-founder of NovaGold, he played a key role in growing that company from $50 million in value to over $2 billion market capitalization advancing 3 major projects through to Feasibility. Mr. Johnson is credited with the discovery and advancement of the 40 Moz Donlin Creek gold deposit in Alaska for Barrick Gold (Placer Dome) and NovaGold.
William Murray, Director
Mr. William Murray is an engineer in the mining industry with over 35 years of experience in construction management and project evaluation in North America and Africa. He currently serves as the Executive Chairman and Director of Polymet Mining Corp. Mr. Murray has been involved in numerous successful projects while working at Fluor Daniel, Denison Mines, Optimum Projects Services and Anglo American Corp. in South Africa.
John Watson, Director
Mr. Watson is an entrepreneur in the mining industry. He is currently President of a TSX Venture Exchange listed company and the manager and member of a limited liability corporation that owns and manages commercial real estate.
Tina Woodside, Director
Ms. Woodside is a partner with the Canadian law firm Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP (formerly Smith Lyons LLP) with over 20 years experience advising Canadian and foreign companies involved in the mining sector on a wide range of matters including public offerings and mergers and acquisitions. She has her B.A. and LL.B from Queen's University, is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors/Rotman School of Business Directors' Education Program and has been awarded the designation "ICD.D" (certified director). |
